Stake conference is a meeting with the members of a stake and is intended to strengthen testimonies and conduct business within the stake. Each stake generally holds two stake conferences during the year as scheduled by the President of the Quorum of the Twelve.
As a technology specialist (TS), you will be responsible for assisting stake leadership by setting up and operating meetinghouse equipment needed for stake conference. A few weeks before stake conference, visit with the stake clerk or your stake presidency contact to gather their vision for the meetings. Offer your ideas and support in carrying out the technology plans. Stake conference can be a very stressful time for the stake presidency; you will be a valuable support and relief when you are prepared to carry out the technology plan that they feel is best for the meeting and members.
Types of equipment that are commonly used for stake conference include AV distribution, digital media devices, webcast equipment, video cameras, and any other technologies that the stake presidency deems necessary. The following are tasks that will help you prepare for and carry out a successful stake conference:
Technology Specialist Tasks
- Set up microphones
- Set up a projector
- Set up audio and video throughout the meetinghouse
- Configure interpretation devices
- Disable wireless access
- Run tests and set up backups
FMG Tasks
- Work with the stake to provide equipment not already in meetinghouses.
- Optional: Provide the stake with temporary technology (webcast equipment, additional mics, enhanced bandwidth, alternative firewalls, etc.).
