Accessing the new public affairs training website

#1

Post by colbyj-p40 »

Below is the recent message sent out describing the website:
A new training Web site for public affairs councils and their priesthood advisers is now available on lds.org under “Serving in the Church.” In a new video presentation on the site, Elder M. Russell Ballard explains the role of public affairs work in the Church and gives priesthood leaders counsel for organizing and utilizing public affairs councils. The site also contains new guidelines for working with the media and for building positive, trusting relationships with influential community and interfaith leaders. Stake clerks should be certain that stake public affairs directors and assistant directors are listed in the Member and Leader Services (MLS) software to enable them to access password-protected content on the site. Priesthood leaders should review the new site and encourage public affairs directors to study and follow the guidance given there.

My question: I am a stake clerk, I did update our MLS stake leadership directory to list our member as the stake public affairs director...however, she reports she is unable to access the website materials.

Did I miss something, or is she perhaps doing something incorrectly?
thanks

Just the obvious stuff. Make sure that you are using a standard calling and not a custom one. Do a s/r and check the cdol. It it's in the cdol, then you have done your job. You may have to give some time for the systems to sync.

Well, having said that, I'm not sure if public affairs shows up in the cdol.

In CDOL there are the following public affairs callings for the stake.
Stake Director of Public Affairs
Stake Public Affairs Specialist
Stake Public Affairs Assistant

After confirming colbyj's stake via PM, I confirmed that the stake public affairs director doesn't show in CDOL.

I asked him to confirm that he used the standard position. As we get this figured out then we will report back the findings.

Thank you for that clarification. I checked my stake, but couldn't see that. It might be due to a limitation on my login. (STS)

I spot checked a couple of neighboring stakes, but saw even less information.

If your stake doesn't have any one called to those positions then you wouldn't see them. I'm assuming you are looking on the 'Show all positions' page.

I was looking in the admin section for which kinds of positions are allowed on a stake.

You only have rights to the 'show all positions' page for your own stake and its wards and branches.

thanks for the assistance. I did the send/receive this morning, as I simply forgot to do that after updating in MLS a few days ago. That very well may have been the problem. My apologies.
Sure appreciate these forums and the prompt assistance you all provide! thank you.
