There are protections to prevent circumventing the Church firewall. One of the features of Tailscale is that it bypasses firewalls. Since Tailscale uses a VPN and its own DNS it most likely will not play well with the Church network. Not all VPNs create problems; but the Church Network uses its own DNS and that is known to cause problems.

Does the firewall only allow access to certain Church related sites?
