Using the Other languages template
Jcfidy, I am responding in English, because I only vaguely understand Spanish. I could run all this through Google Translate, but I know that doesn't produce perfect translations. You can do that yourself, if you find it helpful.
You are not using the {{Other languages}} template correctly. Its proper usage is explained in the LDSTech:Translation article, but it appears you are not understanding that. I know it can be a little tricky.
- For each page you are translating, you should create one new "Other languages" template. For example, for LDSTech:Translation, that new template should be called {{Other languages/LDSTech:Translation}}. This template should not include a language subpage. I see that you created "Other languages/LDSTech:Translation/es" -- you should not have done that, and I will delete that. The purpose of this template is that it can be inserted in each translation of that page and will link to all the other translations of this page.
- You should never insert the {{Other languages}} template into an article. It should only be inserted into specific templates that use the {{Other languages}} template.
I will fix this by doing the following:
- I will delete "Other languages/LDSTech:Translation/es"
- I will fix "Other languages/LDSTech:Translation" to remove the "Delete this page" notation you incorrectly put there (that's the template that is really needed)
- I will change the {{Other languages}} template you inserted at the top of LDSTech:Translation and LDSTech:Translation/es to be {{Other languages/LDSTech:Translation}}.
Note also that if you think a page should be deleted, the best way to do that is to insert the {{Delete}} template. -- Aebrown 11:47, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Translating My Study Notebook content
Jcfidy, thanks for your help with translation. Our plan with the Category:ChurchofJesusChrist.org applications is to move this content to ChurchofJesusChrist.org to facilitate translation. Translation on the wiki just doesn't provide a great user experience, since users must navigate to subpages from English basepages.
One item I could really use your help with is helping generate screenshots in other languages. Would you be willing to create screenshots for the My Study Notebook content? I use Snagit for screenshots. You can download a 30-day free trial if you want. I create a fixed area of 600x400, and then after taking the screenshot, I reduce the size to 76%. Then I add callouts (such as a red circle).
Are you interested in helping create Spanish versions of the screenshots?

I set up the language templates for My Study Notebook. You should be able to just click the Spanish links on each of the pages and translate the material. I also created a Spanish sidebar, which also needs translation. Can you translate that content in addition to creating the screenshots?
Re my note about about users having to navigate to subpages from English basepages, User:Aebrown pointed out that this is not the case when there's a translated sidebar. I forgot about this point. He's right -- you can navigate around without going to the English basepage. I'd like to do some usability testing to compare the experiences on the two different platforms. Beyond translation, the two platforms have different strengths and weaknesses. --Tom Johnson 22:55, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes of course. I am also interested in all these aids are also available in Spanish. Where I have to upload the screenshots? Do I go directly to the articles? --Jc García 12:31, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
