The purpose of this article is to help technology specialists (TSs) troubleshoot broadcasts. If an internet stream or satellite broadcast fails, the TS must react quickly to try and save it. This article outlines the basic steps that a TS can take to salvage a broadcast and ensure that the spiritual experience of a Church event is not disrupted by failed technology.
TASK: TROUBLESHOOTING SATELLITE BROADCASTS
- Check all audio and video connections in the building to make sure that nothing has been unplugged and disrupted the broadcast.
- These may be satellite receiver connections, connections in the chapel, or connections in auxiliary rooms that may be showing the broadcast.
- Contact the Global Services Department (GSD) and notify them that your broadcast has failed.
- You will be forwarded to a member of the Broadcast and Events support team.
- The Broadcast and Events support team will troubleshoot common broadcast errors with you.
- If problems continue during a broadcast being transmitted by the Church, ask to be connected to the audio backup for broadcasts.
- See the article on Creating Broadcast Audio Backups to learn how to use this method.
TASK: TROUBLESHOOTING INTERNET-STREAMED BROADCASTS
- Please go to the broadcast troubleshooting web page for internet streaming solutions.
TASK: TROUBLESHOOTING DOWNLOADED BROADCASTS
- Check all audio and video connections in the building to make sure that nothing has been unplugged.
- Consider restarting your playback device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, and so on).
- Ensure that the video is properly downloaded onto the device.
- If problems persist, re-download the desired media.
- Consider using a different playback device.
