Approved Equipment List

The Church meetinghouse network consists of 3 devices: One Firewall, at least one managed Switch, and one or more Wireless Access Points. Meraki sensors are also available as optional add-ons. The Church's Information and Communication Systems department has tested and approved the following Meraki equipment for use in a Church meetinghouse network. All of these devices are available in eMarket.
Recommended Devices
- Firewall: MX67 (Security Appliance, firewall, router)
- Managed Switch: MS130-24P (24 port switch- POE)
- Wireless Access Point: Cisco Catalyst 9162I (Wi-Fi 6E, low density, omnidirectional)
- (Coming soon) Cisco Wireless 9172 (Wi-Fi 7, low density, omnidirectional wireless access point)
Other approved models
- MX75: A high-throughput firewall, for Basic networks (eg meetinghouses, seminaries, and small institutes) that have internet service capable of consistently delivering more than 500Mbps. This firewall will support up to 1Gbps.
- Other options for a Managed Switch include:
- MS130-8P-I: This model lacks an in internal fan. Overheating can cause it to cease functioning until it cools down.)
- MS130-48P: For situations where more than 24 ports are needed.
- MS130R-8P: This is the ruggedized model designed specifically for areas with extreme temperature requirements. It does NOT offer protection against lightning strikes. Please be sure to protect equipment with surge protectors.)
