Mothers Maiden Name on Child Blessing Certificate

Mothers Maiden Name on Child Blessing Certificate

I thought I remember seeing a thread a while ago on this topic but cant find it now. What's the reason that the mother's maiden name is generated on a baby blessing certificate and not her married name. The mother asked and i couldn't give her a good answer. Thanks.
