Text-to-Speech ONLY available (Psalms)

Post by stonewall13 »

I’ve been listening to the Old Testament now for a few months with no issues. Today, I tried listening to Psalms 144 and text-to-speech is the only available audio for it. I checked a few other chapters that I’d already listened to that had actual recorded audio before and they also only have text-to-speech available. I’m only conecerned now because I’ve already followed the troubleshooting steps laid out in the app and on the website.

Same issue here, just adding onto this, I listen from the app constantly, but Text to Speech voice has taken over many of the scriptures. The issue is intermittent, so for example, Zechariah chapter 1 and 2 are text to speech, while chapter 3 uses the human voice, but Chapter 4 drops back to text to speech. Old Testament in particular is very heavy Text to Speech, while The Book of Mormon audio seems fine.

I have tried everything on the apps settings (even looked for a way to completely turn off Text to speech), but nothing works. The same scriptures on the website still have the human read voices, but in the app, it's greatly affecting usability.

I clicked through many of the Text to Speech options looking for a listenable voice, but they are for the most part terrible.

I tried to use the "download audio" option for each of the scripture books to see if it would help, but nope.

If your Internet connection was lost or lagging, that could explain it. I don't know whether you verified that, but if so, I don't know what the issue is. That wouldn't explain why downloading the audio didn't work for Tylerjwarren (unless Tylerjwarren meant that it didn't download).

As you hinted, though, there are audio recordings of Psalms 144, whether or not they're accessible from the app.
