Picture not showing up on mobile recommend

Hi,

When I switched over to the mobile temple recommend, I did not have a picture uploaded to Member Tools. I uploaded one and had it approved by a bishopric counselor. The picture shows during the PIN login, it shows in the directory, it shows up at the top right of this screen, etc. but it does not show on the mobile recommend. I tried syncing and waiting. Nothing. I tried reinstalling Member Tools. The picture no longer showed. I went through the same process with the same result. It's been a month or 2 now. The picture shows up at the recommend desk at the temple too when I scan my phone. It just won't show up on the recommend.

I have heard that it might have been better if I had uploaded a picture first AND THEN converted over to the mobile recommend. So I'm getting by without it but I'm always a little nervous that some temple worker is going to confiscate my phone or something.

It should not make a difference when you loaded the picture. The same need to update would occur any time someone loaded a newer picture.

I would suggest you check the Sync tile to see that the app has done so recently. And then I would go to Settings > Refresh Data to trigger a complete update. (Refresh Data is under the Temple Recommend Expiration Reminder, odd and not directly related, but it works.) Refreshing fixes most data issues and quirks.

I would do any syncing and refreshing in a solid Wi-Fi setting and not at Church on Sunday.

And rest assured that the temple worker is not going to confiscate your phone.

It has been syncing. I did the Settings, Refresh Data. As when I uninstalled and reinstalled Member Tools, my uploaded picture was wiped away. I uploaded a new one again, had it approved again, but the result is the same. The picture appears everywhere but the temple recommend.

To confirm -- when you bring up your mobile recommend, it correctly shows the three lines for name, MRN, and "Valid through ...", but does not show your picture at the top?

It sounds like you've done whatever user tricks are possible, and you may have found a bug in the Church's system. Perhaps calling GSD and having them look at things from their side of the wall, might identify an issue that needs fixing. If you do call, make sure you update this thread with whatever response they give you, to help anyone else who also finds this same scenario.

Did you do something to help me or alert the Global Services Department to reset my profile?!? Else, I just had the Red Sea part. My Member Tools app stopped working all together suddenly and after waiting a while, I decided to uninstall and reinstall yet again (3rd time in all). I thought for sure I'd have to upload the picture again but, to my enormous surprise, my mobile temple recommend is now showing the picture!! So it's all fixed but I don't know how it happened.

This is a member-to-member discussion form. No one here is able to effect changes on your behalf and only the individual member is able to have changes made by the GSD.

Your problem was solved because you reloaded the app and a complete and current set of data downloaded during that process, including your picture. That is the process that usually works. (1) Sync. (2) Refresh data. (3) Uninstall and reinstall the app.

In your case, the third time was the charm.
