What does (s) signify after a member name?

What does (s) signify after a member name?
Some members in our units have an (s) after their name. I cannot see anywhere what this means.

Does the "(s)" look like it's part of the name, or is it a separate icon or font style? You could check the "preferred name" field or one of the other name fields on the membership record.
