Christmas Lights and Trees allowed In wards buildings and not in others
When you see Temple Square or the Temple grounds at Christmas you see incredible Christmas light displays. When you see the Broadcast from the conference center it's always decked out for Christmas. When you go to Ward Christmas parties you will see Christmas all around. Its an inviting feeling durning Christmas Season Trees and Lights shining brightly. But it's seem some wards have ban all Lights and other Wards get to enjoy the traditions of Christmas. Why the double standard. Why do some get to enjoy Christmas at Christmas Time and others are denied that experience at church? Not everyone lives close to a Temple or Temple Square. We are trying to shine light in a ever Darkening World especially at Christmas Time it's a shame our ward buildings sit in the darkness... let our light so shine.

Have you looked in the Handbook for policies? I seem to recall a decade or more ago that lights were not allowed in meetinghouses due to risk of fire from the incandescent lights of that time. I haven't looked myself to see whether LED Christmas lights might be allowed.

I think the following Forum post is probably the most-current regarding your question:sitess wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 5:51 pm When you see Temple Square or the Temple grounds at Christmas you see incredible Christmas light displays. Items in that thread include a reference to the "Decorations" topic in the Meetinghouse Facilities Guide, as well as a suggestion to work through the local priesthood leaders to discuss any local restrictions that church buildings may need to conform to. And while many things may not be formally prohibited, local leaders may feel inspired to do things differently than what is seen elsewhere.
