Can't text missionaries ?

We were in a stake leadership training re: missionary work, and got dead-ended on this ...
Seems broken for both iOS and Android.

Suggest you check with the local missionaries and/or the mission office to see if there is an issue in your stake. Texting and calling them works fine here in my stake.

Maybe the mission didn't fill in a phone number for the companionship in your ward? Or filled it in incorrectly (such as a missing area code)?

EDIT: I'm seeing the same, in iOS Member Tools 5.0.3. There's a Send Feedback form under Help, to report issues. This sounds like a good bug to report!

Confirming it's working for me on an Android (version 14), using Tools v5.1.0. I also tried with a unit that has two missionary companionships, and I can select to text either of them and it brings up the message app with the correct phone number.

Seems like it might be an iPhone issue, perhaps.

I'm seeing the same thing. Trying to text a missionary, I get "Can't reply to this short code". Yet I see a full phone number with country code (like +1 801.555.1212). And there's no place for me to enter text.

Yet it works fine for texting anyone from the general membership.

This is 5.1.0 on Android.

I suspect it's something in the formatting of the phone number my messaging app doesn't like.
