List of standard callings

Post by ctbarrett »

I've searched and can't find any updated information on where to find a list of standard callings. There's got to be an easier way than to look through each organization, start to add a calling and then finally see the list of standard callings within that organization.

I do not believe here is such a list. Some here at the forum have made their own lists just the way you mentioned by looking through each organization. I have not seen one posted recently.

And I'd add that even the Church struggles to keep its own documentation up-to-date, we often find help FAQs and such, that are outdated in terms of what calling names they are using. One imagines the Church must have some internal master list somewhere, but perhaps even they might have internal disconnects with different departments having different data. We just don't know ;)

For a quick and dirty list, you can look at the "callings by organisation" report and select "all organisations". It will show standard callings even if they are empty. You just need to ignore the custom callings (marked with a *).

Unless the unit has hidden any (but that sill may accomplish what they are trying for).

CDOL is the programmatic source of what callings are allowed in a unit, but that list changes by unit type and to a small degree by unit classification. It used to change by location, parent unit type as well, so that may be why there wasn't ever an official way to get the list.

The list has to be written down every time there is a production change made. Is there any way to get that list posted (even if it is only presented as a list of changes)? I'd be shocked if there are Production changes being made without defined requirements, testing and approval.

Since almost all Tech Forum participants are regular church members like yourself, with standard callings like Clerks and such, nobody here is likely to have any insider info about how the Church handles these types of issues. I would imagine many of us would agree with your thinking, but there's likely nobody here with any pull to make that happen. The Feedback tool is likely the best option to try and get that considered by the Church.

It doesn't take a code release to make those changes. They are controlled by the CDOL admin users so while I'm sure there's a process for getting the handbook updated (which is likely how the change in CDOL gets triggered) there isn't any process I know of that would support updating that list. In reality LCR is a unit's source of the official list.
