Youth and ATV's

Post by lehrschallbrian »

Random question. There are a group of young women leaders in my ward who want to take the young women to do a 2 day campout and ATV outing. I know we have to do an activity plan and submit it to the Stake. Is there anywhere that expressly forbids the use of ATV's? The area they want to go camping at is about 2 hours outside our stake. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Take a look at General Handbook, 20.5.11, & 20.7.6.

An unapproved activity is one that has "high risk of injury or illness ". If the company doing the ATV require wavers, that does give one pause.

Also: General Handbook 0.4:
If leaders have questions about information in this handbook or about issues it does not address, they counsel with their immediate presiding authority.
So, the first step is to ask the bishop. If he is unsure, he can ask the stake president. If the stake president is unsure, he has a coordinating council.

Which probably isn't a bad idea to make sure all the wards in the area are on the same page. Because you know the youth will say "well, the Funville Ward got to do it!"
