LEHI Network Unstable

#1

Post by latviankid »

Our Stake enabled the LEHI network for leaders this last week, and I was able to quickly connect. It seems like a great idea for those of us who are running the Zoom meetings and other meetings over Wifi. I quickly discovered however that the connection is much less stable than the Liahona network. The LEHI network kicked off twice while we were trying to broadcast Sacrament Meeting today, and so I switched back to Liahona. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Also, I noticed that LEHI, LIAHONA, and the hard wired networks IP addresses are all different. It would sure be nice to be able to print to the printer from my laptop using LEHI straight into the hard wired printer. Be nice the network for leaders was all the same IP network.

What IPs are you seeing? The range on our network is 192.168.108.3 to 192.168.111.254. It's all the same network despite the third octet changing.

The other ranges are 10.x.x.x, but that's for things like Facility, Special (FHC), or Workforce.

Been using the Lehi SSID since it became available and have not noticed either of the issues you mention.

No WiFi issues and as stated above, it's all one network so I'm able to print to the ethernet hard wired printer from my wireless laptop.

Just my experience, but it's been great so far.

OK, we actually have two printers in the clerks office. The first has an IP address of 192.168.12.15 and the other has an IP of 192.168.12.9. My computer IP is 192.168.110.10. All of us are using Windows 10 with our laptops, and we're on the LEHI wireless network.

I'm getting a good reply when I ping the printers which are both hard wired into the network, but when I try to add them it won't recognize them. Yes I have tried to add them using the direct IP etc. It feels like they're getting blocked, but our Stake IT specialist says he's not aware of any firewall.

How are the printers getting their IP address? 192.168.12.x is outside of the range for the public zone - at least networks in the buildings in my stake. Note that the range might have changed some time in the past when firewalls and switches were swapped out.

I'd suggest working with your STS to re-assign them to a IP address that is within the range.

The 192.168.12.x is the zone (VLAN) the managed switch(s) and AP's communicate to each other on. If the OP has a printer in that zone then the managed switch might be misconfigured, or a dumb switch was added in the wrong place. Either way, it needs to be corrected. Devices plugged into available LAN jacks should NOT come up in that zone.
