Tools down for updates on sunday
It seems that some in Technology don't know that church sites, as well as members are actively using church sites such as Lds.org and member tools on Sunday morning. This causes a problem with record keeping in all it's forms for the staff at Stake, Ward, Branch and Mission locations as well as members trying to access information on those sites. Suggestion: do maintenance Saturday evening after 9Pm and before 8 Am on Sunday morning, as this would makie all functions available to those that need them to do their callings. Thank you..

Re: Tools down for updates on sunday
The message you are getting is a cryptic message for a number of server issues. The site(s) are not being taken down for maintenance. Rather the problem is one or more servers with problems. Everything from Member Tools, LCR finance, LCR Membership, Directory to MLS send/receive outages are being reported. We may have to wait until Monday when ICS will be at work to look into the issues.

I think you are being misled by a message that comes up automatically anytime the servers are slow to respond. To no one's surprise, the servers are slowest on Sunday.

Re: Tools down for updates on sunday
We are constantly frustrated by tools not being able to sync or being down on Sunday. When we are in Ward Council and need to sync things for an important discussion it's rarely possible.

Members should sync and update all their apps at home, rather than waiting until they arrive at the chapel. In this case, it wouldn't have mattered, since the problem was on the server side.

Those in technology are aware of such things. This wasn't scheduled maintenance -- it was downtime.Example wrote:It seems that some in Technology don't know that church sites, as well as members are actively using church sites such as Lds.org and member tools on Sunday morning. Your suggestion of doing maintenance after 9:00 PM on a Saturday would cause havoc in Tokyo where it would be noon on a Sunday.

ANY maintenance
Is there a way to push out notification to all in a particular calling if their area will be non functioning? I understand the global challenge but when a scheduled training has to be rescheduled because of maintenance prior notice would help respect the time of all involved. Also-while it might play havoc globally, is there a consistent time OTHER than Sunday morning that could be established for regular maintenance (such as-weekday midday or Monday-a time when fewer meetings are likely)? Doing this on a Sunday morning in any part of the world does seem inefficient.

Re: ANY maintenance
Please note the post before yours where the Church employee stated that what appears to be scheduled maintenance is downtime. Downtime is not scheduled, or system maintenance, but rather system problems that cause an outage. This is typical on high load days such as Sunday. Who will be affected by downtime in any specific location is most likely indeterminate. Due to streaming and other Internet connectivity unreliability on Sundays the Church recommends avoiding anything that requires Internet connectivity. They recommend instead to download videos and other Internet content ahead of time, such as during lower use times during the weekdays, for Sunday meetings.TxRdgTeacher wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 8:10 am Is there a way to push out notification to all in a particular calling if their area will be non functioning?
