Specific video training for Finance and Membership clerks

Post by wsplawn »

I have looked around the church's web site for specific videos for the membership clerk and the Finance clerk but am unable to find them. I am the ward clerk for our ward. A finance clerk and a membership clerk were recently called. It was my belief that there were specific videos that these brethren could watch that relate to their calls, particularly as it relates to MLS. If there are, however, I don't see them. Are there? If so, where may they be located.

Thank you

They are all on the Record Keeping And Technology Support (RKATS) site. I'd suggest you start with the "Finance" or "Membership" section and then pick the particular topics.

Membership help and procedures are found in the reorganized Help Center in the Membership Records menu section. If there is something specific you are looking for and cannot find then post what it is and we may be able to direct you to the specific article.

here it is 2026 and it appears this training is still messed up. Unable to find any training videos or instructions on financial clerks job! Probably exist somewhere, but navigating the LDS website is a nightmare. you get better results by google searching! I know I am grumpy here, but we have the worst training for any calling I have been in. Makes me not want to accept any callings that I am not familiar with.... I am an engineer and would love to help the church get these things ironed out,,,, but no, they won't want my help!

In general whenever a leader extends a calling, they should also provide at that time information about all available training materials for that calling (see GHB 30.2). That includes Handbook references, FAQs, and training videos (which may or may not be organized in a helpful fashion...). This definitely doesn't always happen.

Elder Kearon gave a wonderful talk about callings in this past April 2026 Conference, where he spoke about his very first calling as a brand-new church member: assistant ward clerk. Interestingly, in his message, nothing was mentioned about "outsourcing" the training to videos or online instruction -- it was all personal and ongoing. Ideally, this should be part of a Bishopric's (or Stake Presidency's) process of handling callings, identifying what training resources are available, and also identifying who will be in charge of helping the member learn about their new calling. I've seen both sides of this process, and I know quite well that leaders often skip over this portion of their responsibilities -- sometimes members had to remind me they didn't know everything I unconsciously assumed they did ;)
