I am trying to figure out what version of GEDCOM FamilySearch.org uses, I am seeing if it might be possible to import it to the free Gramps software, it says it supports GEDCOM 5.5 (I believe in open source power ).

FamilySearch doesn't currently export to GEDCOM, so your question doesn't really have a direct answer.
