With the new emphasis on the FSY Guide in the 25-minute schedule format, our ward is having various group meetings (e.g, all adults and youth combined; 2nd-hour teachers combined; parents and youth combined) to discuss the new schedule and strategies for being successful. With the repeated requests over at least six years for things like web access for the Gospel Living app and Circles, it feels like the church is missing another perfect opportunity to really leverage the strengths of the Gospel Living app and to create a central communication tool for our wards.
As a ward leader who uses Gospel Living and Circles but then has to duplicate those efforts in group text or WhatsApp threads (to include youth who don't have mobile phones or parents who feel inundated with redundant Circles notifications), it frustrates me to see the wasted potential in the Gospel Living app because it's not accessible in a web-app format. -- I'd like to leverage the Activities tab, Circles, and to promote more of the uplifting content in the Discover tab, but this is a "tree in the forest" situation where incremental improvements and real value in the app are ignored and fall on deaf ears because nobody is around to see / hear them.
How difficult would it be for the Church to create a tab or sub-page on the ChurchofJesusChrist.org website called "Gospel Living"?!? This would allow parents and youth without mobile phones to engage with the app and its content in a more familiar and accessible way. (Even I would prefer to sit down at a desktop or laptop computer and use a web app to fill out Activities and post / schedule messages in the Circles tab.) Why isn't this available? ....still. ...after many years of sincere, concerned leaders and parents calling for it? -- Are there improvements in accessibility that I'm not aware of? Are there simple (i.e., no, we're not going to require / try and teach everyone in the ward how to download and use emulators) ways to access the Gospel Living content from a desktop or Windows laptop?
I feel like the need is greater today - as our leaders are calling for teachers and youth leaders to send reminders and share thought questions or study resources throughout the week - for an app like Gospel Living, but the app is essentially useless without an extremely high adoption rate. Clearing the relatively low hurdles mentioned for years in these threads would go a long way to making that happen.
Another Missed Opportunity to Promote Gospel Living App?
Any discussions around the Gospel Living App on various mobile devices.
