understand that information on those living is private to your tree but is it appropriate to enter and maintain spouse, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins in your tree? It has been suggested that keeping such entries will eventually create duplicates but at the same time I find it useful to keep track of birthdays and clearly see linkages (I have extended family that I don't know). If not does a product exist or can one be developed that mimics the layout of a familysearch tree but works backwards from grandparents (so uncles and aunts would be included)

I'm interested in the same... Would it also be safe to assume that any "memories" added to such "living" individuals would be merged and publicly available in the event such a living person dies, and the record gets merged with similar duplicates onto the main trunk?

I do not make it a habit of creating profiles for family members younger than myself, because it is likely I will pass before they do.
