Wireless printers on Lehi no longer discoverable

Post by aaronjellis »

We have been using the Lehi network for clerk printers for the last 5+ years, and aside from the annoyance of needing to fix after the password reset every 90 days they have worked great to allow leadership to print recommends and other documents from their iPads or laptops. Our buildings recently underwent a whole network refresh, but as of last week our wireless printers can no longer be found via Airprint or other mobile devices.

Is anyone aware of an official policy change or network change that would restrict bonjour discoverability?

We had the same problem after a major network update. We fixed the problem by adding the wireless network manually in the printer. Don't scan for existing networks but manually add 'Liahona' or 'Lehi' as a wireless SSID (network) and input all the necessary information (encryption, etc.)

The new wireless access points (Model shows as CW9172I in CNM) only support WPA3.

Older printers may only support WPA2 and will not connect to the updated Wireless Network.

Recommendation -- Put the printers on the Liahona network and assign them a static IP address in CNM so they don't get the spash screen when they try to update firmware.

This avoids the need to update them when you rotate the Lehi password every 90 days.

Also prevents them from going off-line every 90 days when you forget to rotate the password and the Lehi network is disabled.
