There are 2 audio output jacks at our rostrum area. One is a RCA marked AUX audio and the other is a 1/8" marked Audio record level. Both mono. does anyone know what the difference is between these? Meaning impedance wise? and db level? I took the cover off and I can see there is a small xfmr on the board, which leads me to believe that is an impedance matching. We need a clean audio feed to send to our laptop for when we stream video.
Lastly, on a similar subject, we noticed that the sound system is not working correctly for when we have someone singing at the podium. The system appears to have an issue with the AGC. It will pull the audio down, and then bring it back up slowly if the vocals get too loud. Simple speaking does not cause this. Just singing or anything loud. I am certain its either an AGC or compressor issue. The FM group is not responsive, and I do not have a key to the sound cabinet. Otherwise I would get in there to adjust it. Any suggestions on this is appreciated.

The AUX is likely an input of some kind. The 3.5mm is a mono (tip and ring) audio out at consumer line-level. Unfortunately, unless your laptop is one of the few that can take a line-in, you'll need to adapt that to what your laptop can handle and navigate the plethora of 3.5mm pinout standards.davidscott59 wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 12:42 pm There are 2 audio output jacks at our rostrum area. Even if you had the key, it wouldn't do you any good. It's all DSP and all controls are set in software. I'm going to guess the system is detecting what it thinks is feedback and acting accordingly. Actually you are mistaken.... both these jacks are OUTPUT. I need to know what impedence/load these signals provide.
Secondly, this is an old building with old sound system. Its not a DSP controlled. we are on the list for a new upgrade this year.

I've not seen an RCA output in a church building unless it's the composite video out from the video distribution system from when the building had a satellite system. But if it's is an audio output, RCA usually indicates consumer line level with a target impedance of 10K ohm.

I have been using one of the audio devices for the hearing impaired to connect with the chapels PA system. I plug a USB-C adapter with a microphone input into my tablet. Than an audio cable to the output jack on the headset receiver.
My Zoom setup shows a headset option versus regular mic. The regular mic works best. I use close captain to verify sound pickup. Turning up the output volume on the receiver makes the pulpit mic more sensitive. The CC tells me what people in the choir seats are saying before Sacrament Meeting. NO cables on the floor to get a mic near the pulpit or too the recording jack under the Sacrament Table!
We now have hearing impaired Ward members joining the broadcast in chapel, so they can read the CC.
