Book of Mormon App

The Book of Mormon App published by the church has not seen an update in over 4 years. In the Technology world that essentially means it is obsolete. Are there plans to keep and update the app or to just allow it to die? I feel this app is the most important app we could support. This is the easiest way to have a Book of Mormon in every household and pocket around the world.

Does it still work? If not, reporting the problem via the Feedback link is the best way to try to get the problem fixed.

What updates are you looking for? The text itself hasn't changed. As long as it still functions properly, it doesn't need to be updated.

Why was the introduction to the Book of Mormon changed on the mobile app? Does anyone know? It seems the witnesses were also removed.

I see the witness statements are included in the Appendix. As for why the introduction is different, I don't know that anyone here in the Forum will have "insider information" like that (we're all regular church members like yourself). Since the intro isn't part of the original record from the plates, it's subject to change as the Church sees fit. Reading the intro in the Book of Mormon app, it does seem especially oriented towards those unfamiliar with the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. The "existing" intro we're all familiar with does a great job explaining the history and purpose of the Book of Mormon, absolutely nothing wrong with it. My guess is that the Church decided that for the separate Book of Mormon app that exists outside of the Gospel Library, they wanted to have an updated intro that served a specific purpose (which we can only guess at )
