Calendar items showing in lds.org but NOT in ldstools

We have a Stake Conference scheduled in January. It shows on the Calendar in LDS.org, but not on the calendar in the LDSTools app. I'm told by our High Councilman over tech that this has been an issue for a while and not just for this event - it happens for many events. He's asked me to look into it deeper.

For the record, I'm subscribed to all calendar categories and synced. I can see other stake events, but not this one - there may be others also.

Does anyone have knowledge about this?

I'd suggest investigating what calendar this event has been placed on. There's a possibility it's been placed on the building calendar. Currently, the building calendar doesn't sync outside of lds.org - at all.

If other events on the same ward or stake calendar are showing but not this one, then that would be a bug.

Well, that looks like the problem then. The person who put it on the calendar reserved the building, but put it on their Ward's calendar and not the Stake. So, it showed up on LDS.org because the building was scheduled, but not on LDSTools because it was both on a Ward calendar (not my Ward) and also only for the building (which LDSTools doesn't display).

Any idea when the Church will make the building calendars available on LDSTools?

That was promised as part of 3.0, but we have no idea when that will come out.

The real fix is to put the stake conference on the stake calendar. The general membership isn't going to add the building calendar to their sync, (especially if "their" building isn't the stake center), so they'd miss that event.

Tools calendar syncing with the website calendar is hit and miss for us. Some items show up and others do not even when they are on the same calendar and after we try to sync. Are there times when the system goes down and there are no notifications sent? -Chris Hofheins

We have the same problem and this has been a problem for quite a long time (months if not years). For example, our Stake Conference which is going to be on 2025-01-18 & 19, is on the lds.org calendar scheduled at our Stake Center, but does not show up on Tools. I have been subscribed to all calendars, though when I looked today, I can't see how to subscribe to calendars any more. People call/text me all the time wondering why events aren't on the Tools Calendar. I'd be happy to help any technical person to show then examples of calendar items that aren't syncing at all.

On churchofjesuschrist.org, when you click on a event, you may get a pop-up window. It will be in the format of:

{Event Name}
{Calendar name} Event owned by: {Unit name}

What is the Calendar name? If it's a location, then the event has been placed directly on the location calendar instead of a event calendar. Likely because the stake is still using the old model of all events being calendared by the building scheduler.

Location calendars do not sync. Events that are to be visible to the membership need to be placed on a event calendar.

In my personal experience, the online calendar does not sync to Member Tools. I regularly use the Refresh option under the three-dot menu. Perhaps it should, but for me it does not.

It seems to be working for me, but definitely has quirks. First, there's two places to set the display. Tap on the three dot menu, select "Manage Calendars" and select what to sync. Then at the top of the calendar display, there's a drop down window where there are check boxes to select what to display.

Second, I don't think location calendars work. But event calendars do.

I've given up on using the calendar in the tools app. I will either use the iCal style sync to my phone's calendar, or use the website if I need a large scale glance.
