What about account code features for supply cost regulation?

This feature is not considered essential under the purchase program. Stakes/wards can determine internally the best way to ensure fair cost distribution among local units. Since meter readings are not used for billing purposes, local units may make as many copies as the toner and paper they buy will produce, using common sense to not abuse their machine. Such overuse may necessitate frequent repair calls during the final years of a copier’s warranty life.

[FYI: currently (late 2008) most of the Sharp and Xerox copier models have account codes, while the HP copiers do not.]
