Re: Gospel Library app for Desktop PC
[Disclosure: I work for Microsoft]
In the mobile phone market space I would agree that WP7/8 will likely not catch Android or iOS, at least not in any foreseeable future. The Windows 8 ecosystem will, however, surpass the Android and iOS user base. Windows 8 already has >1% of the desktop market share after ~2 months of release.
The nice thing about the Win8 ecosystem is that your back-end code will work across all platforms, just compile for x86, x64 and ARM. The front-end UI needs a little tweaking for the various format sizes. Makes developing apps from phone thru desktop easier.
Thanks for the tip about bluestacks. May use that until an official Win8 Gospel Library is out.

Gospel Library and LDS Tools for PC
I have just downloaded BlueStacks on my PC and now have access to Gospel Library and LDS Tools on my PC Win7. It is a Beta site at the moment, but seems to work just fine. It takes a few seconds for either program to load but that is ok. All loads well, sets up well, set me up for new drivers for my Nvideo card, so it works.

Re: Gospel Library app for Desktop PC
I'm not sure how new it is, but I went into the Microsoft Store that comes with Windows 8.1 and did a search and found the LDS Gospel Library, the price was free. It downloaded in less than a minute and works great. The functionality is different from the versions for iOS, but is overall fairly intuitive. It has the feel of a first release, but if Windows 8 or 8.1 is your only OS, you now have another choice. I'm certain it will mature quickly.

Yes, things have changed in nearly the two years since the prior post.jj_floreland27 wrote:This thread is pretty old but the gospel library is available for download. https://tech.lds.org/blog/646-gospel-li ... -available
But before anyone gets their hopes up, it's for Windows 8.1/10 only. There's no plans to make a version available for 7 or XP.

Devices running Windows 8.1 and above can download and install Gospel Library for Windows from the Windows Store.jrdurham9 wrote:A netbook is very similar in functionality to an Android or Blackberry device. Are there plans for this?

Devices running Windows 10 can download and install Gospel Library for Windows 10 Beta from the Windows Store.

There are no plans to make the app available on versions of Windows prior to Windows 8.1. Further, the Windows 8.1 version of the app will not be supported for very long after the release of Gospel Library for Windows 10.

Here is the Windows desktop version of LDS Gospel Library, compatible with Windows 10: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p ... quirements
Maybe this is common knowledge, but I know I just thought to check for a desktop application today. I have used the mobile versions of Gospel Library for many years, as well as the online version at lds.org. The desktop application has the same feel and similar functionality to the mobile version(s).
