Ward Website Question

For my ward's 5th sunday lesson, we were talking about the (for me, new) Sharing The Gospel section in Gospel Library. There is a section titled, "Share Ward Activities" and at the bottom, there is a sample Ward website page. Does the Church have ward websites set up already that I don't know about or is do Wards have to create their own? I am a STS and I think this would be really cool to implement within my Ward.

There's been rumors and a few old websites have been spotted, but I haven't been able to tell if it's an active program or an abandoned pilot.

No one has come forth with a way to sign up.

They used to have official ward websites (that's where you used to go to see the ward and stake directories, ward/stake calendars, meeting times, and such), but I think they got rid of those. However, pretty much all of the functionality that existed on them still exists on the main website for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and/or on the Gospel Living app. There used to be a calling associated with it, too.

The thread Local Unit Website has some information.

While I can find current event (if I scroll down far enough), the number of participating units seems really small.
