Liahona Sign-in on Church TV

So with Liahona internet, there a 'sign-in' site that you have to go through to have full access to the internet. However there isn't a way to get to this on a church tv (smart).

I've tried going to the browser and typing in https://guestwirelesstermsofservice.chu ... /?lang=eng which does bring me to the correct page. However, clicking the 'Continue to Internet' button redirects to an error page.

Is there something else I'm mission in the url? Is there another way to get to the correct page? (On a Samsung smart tv)

I would talk to the stake technology specialist about adding the TV to the "NoSplash" policy. It was made specifically for things that have trouble with accessing the page.

If I have a need like that, I just plug it into a nearby LAN jack. Hardwired connections don't deal with the splash screen. May I ask why the TV needs to be tied to the internet? Most folks use a personal device linked to the TV instead of the TV getting its own content.

Playing the devils advocate here. YouTube is one example. Not all members have access to a device, or devices that can connect to a tv. Connecting to a LAN socket isn’t always practical. The simpler the setting up and use of technology the better the experience!

Back when our FM group replaced our CRT TV with a shiny new 32-inch LCD LG TV, I noticed an RJ-45 jack on the back, so naturally, I connected it to a hub or switch. Bzzt. That was a maintenance port only. My hub or switch died because of it. Live and learn! (And read the manual.)

When I had trouble with the satellite system with the most recent general conference I was advised by my STS that we will be switching to streaming devices, and a member of the FM for my area said that my building would be loosing satellite service by the end of the year. In a training/information document for the STSs it states that Wireless Access Points (WAP) should be disabled during broadcasts. Because of these things when we get a Amazon Fire Stick, or a smart TV with Roku built in, or something else (my chapel is still very much analog, think VCRs ) I would need to be able to plug it into a Ethernet port. Being a small branch, with only 78 people max (when extended family from three families decide to all visit on the same weekend) in the building at one time, I could ask our STS to just leave the WiFi on all of the time, and not worry about the wall jack (our internet is very good for a rural area 20Mbs down/15Mbs up).

While the branch president and I have been working together to stream our weekly Sunday service, I do not feel comfortable asking him, or another president or councilor, to tie up their tablet/cell phone in casting a stream to a TV, or working through available combinations for cords and adapters. So I ether go wireless, keep the WAPs on, and have the STS add the streaming device/smart TV to the "NoSplash" list, or I have it connected to the LAN via cable (which will need to be added throughout our building, only the clerk's office and HVAC is currently connected to our LAN - I told you we are still very much an analog congregation ).

Or get your STS to enable the Lehi SSID. The password which has a 90 day lifespan. He will know what this is and how to do it. Then on the day, via TM, turn off the Liahona SSID remotely, as and when required!

Ah, yes, Lehi, the hidden network. And with it being a hidden (well, ok, it does not broadcast it's SSID), you do not have a splash screen associated with it, that helps. Yet as you mentioned, a 90 day password.

I hope the tools on https://tm.churchofjesuschrist.org have improved over the past 18 month. Not being a STS, only a branch clerk/executive secretary, I can view the status of the switch(es) and WAPs, yet not effect them. My STS has worked with me on trying to get things set up, yet due to the limitations at the time (may of changed over the past year and half) setting up a weekly schedule to have Liahona disabled, and only Lehi active, proved clunky at best. Then there was the human and smart phone/tablet problem on our end - switching between public and private networks, updating and sharing of passwords, etc (I think the biggest part was between the ears). I believe in the acronym KISS (Keep It Stupidly Simple [yes?]), that way if someone else has to take over the duties of the weekly Sunday service live stream they can just hop in, and not have to worry about unknown WiFi networks, passwords they should not know, or anything else.

I did ask my STS about setting up VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks), and again, due to limitations at that time (again, 18 months ago or so), that is not possible. I would love to have maybe five VLANs set up just to use with Chromecast devices throughout the building, and each Chromecast device having it's own private VLAN and 3D barcode for a teacher (or other presenter) to scan, to help make life easier.
