Airplay from a SmartTV
I have an Airplay & Chromecast capable smart TV in my bishops office. I really want to be able to cast the screen from a phone or tablet during meetings & lessons (show agendas, collaborate on documents, presentations, other rich media). The TV connects to the buildings internet fine but we cannot get the airplay or chromecast to work. Anyone else out there trying to do this and had any success?

Have you added the smart TV to the no splash screen policy?

Along the lines of Wattsuk's question, how are you determining that the TV is connecting OK?

Re: Airplay from a SmartTV
Good questions- As far as the splash screen goes, I was having trouble adding anything to it, not just the TV (I have added devices in the past). Perhaps it was just being weird/difficult the other evening when I was working on it.
I know it's connected to the internet because I can access YouTube through the built in App. While Airplay does not show up at all on the mobile devices as an option, Chromecast does give me the option on my mobile devices. However, when I tell it to connect it is not successful.
I am going to try the splash screen again tomorrow when I'm there, I'm really hoping that is the issue.
As far as any of you know, there should be no issue with this, right?

How is the TV connected to the internet? Wired or wireless?

I cannot confirm airplay as although I have an ipad, I have no receiving device to check with.
Chromecast definitely works though.

In the same bldg as kellyditto...I tried the instructions outlined here: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/hel ... m?lang=eng,
but when logged into TM, there is no "Group Policy" option. Is access to add devices to "Splash Screen Group Policy" set by calling, or controlled by someone in the stake?

The Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology is the person who needs to do it.amaikalani wrote:Is access to add devices to "Splash Screen Group Policy" set by calling, or controlled by someone in the stake?

Re: Airplay from a SmartTV
I know the STS has access, but I'm not sure who else can. This is the first I've heard of that not all functions of TM were available to those who can log into TM.
I'd think the Ward Technology Specialist or the old Stake Assistant Technology Specialists would have access.
Note that the splash screen only becomes an issue of if the device needs to access the internet. If it only needs to talk to other devices on the same network, it isn't the issue.
I don't know enough about the different modes of Chromecast. I think there's a version where the device does the downloading and simply sends the video to the TV (as opposed to having the TV go to that channel). It's possible the issue is a compatibility issue between the device and the TV.
