Wanted to make sure people were aware of the updates to the handbook of instruction that were published yesterday.

29.7 is the section you want to look for.

Interesting. It confirms my belief that some form of streaming would become a permanent.

It is only intended for those who cannot reasonably attend or visit other wards. It's not for convivence.

I do hope we'll be getting some direction of what the suggested standardized setup will be. I did note that "Generally, only one device should be used to capture the meeting. Both the device and the person using it should be inconspicuous."

Very interesting. My stake asked the FM group to install "inconspicuous" PTZ cameras in each meetinghouse, so we wouldn't need to set up a camera and computer right in front of the podium. The FM group replied that policy only allows cameras to be mounted in stake centers, not in other meetinghouses.

Another clue that virtual meetings may continue is in the new Handbook at paragraphs 33.6.11 and 38.8.28.5.

33.6.11 directly affects one ward in my stake as they have a deaf group.

One thing I'm NOT seeing is streaming for any kind of missionary "outreach". As such, I'd expect units with a senior population to be more likely to stream than a YSA unit. Which will be interesting because that's stereotypically opposite of the technical ability.

It's probably far too early for their policies and procedures to be changed regarding this. Besides the need for FM budgeting, there will have to be some planning in ward buildings as to where the video feed will go. Most don't have a satellite cabinet or other centralized place for video collection and/or distribution. Taking a wild guess, I'd say this will most likely be an option in the future for existing ward buildings, but you can expect it's going to take a while before it's available.
