We basically use the calendar much like the old one... have a clipboard for everything else. It is just too immense of a system to implement for our liking. It's amazing to me... I work for a VERY large organization, we schedule meeting rooms all the time... sometimes we have vendors come in and need to clear out some meetings already taking place so we can have a 4 hour block... it is all so natural to me, but I sat in a Stake Presidency meeting this morning and got blank stares when I talked about resolving reservation conflicts..... I cut my teeth in the IT world installing Exchange all over the place... I get it... but I'm finding the concept of 'reserving' a room by and individual or group is beyond most. They all want to talk to somoene that can book their room for them.
It could also be that as a stake we haven't made a concerted effort to use the solution. Come to think of it, we really don't use any of the online tools other than the directory, and even then we mostly use the mobile apps. Not a single APP other than directory has been integrated into what we do.... sad really, I would be curious to know if it's taking off or if i'm the only stake in that mess.

So is there any kind of update in terms of fix for this? We've lost our building scheduler and the stake can't seem to add me until a new one is called. The challenge is that everyone is trying to put their next year's events as well as Christmas events on the schedule and I can't see when someone is asking to reserve the building.

No, there is no update.

By going to the week view you can see all ever thing, events and reservations, that have been added to the calendar. You don't need a building scheduler or a reservation to add an event. To add an event all you need it a calendar editor, and as far as we know adding a calendar editor is still working properly.cwilcock wrote:So is there any kind of update in terms of fix for this? No one knows at this time when this will be fixed.kenm51 wrote:How soon for a fix. This is holding up progress within the stake/ward.
If the tool is being used as designed not having building scheduler capability should not have a major effect in implementing full migration of the calendar. Units still have the capabilities to book/schedule events on the calendars.kenm51 wrote:Changes are continual and having this broken discourages the full migration to the tool.

We hacked a fix to get it to update for our stake
Folks, I know this isn't want you want to hear, but we were able to do a hack to get my building scheduler updated.
The problem lies in the population of the ward unit list dropdown. It just spins forever.
There technically is no problem in the server receiving a POST from your browser (or other tool) with updated info. The POST is submitted when you hit Save on the Edit page for a building. Here's how to get around the problem (and are web dev minded):
If you are logged in and capture the POST that is sent when you update any other detail on the building edit page then you will have the whole POST that is necessary to resubmit again once you have added the new building scheduler. Sift through the POST that you captured and you will see the current list of schedulers. Just swap one of those out with an updated name field and an updated ID field. The ID field is the most important one. You have to look up the ID field as this ID does not correlate with MRN or any thing else you are using. To do this, capture a POST and the response when you load that person's family's directory page and you will find his ID within the capture.
It is discouraging that this issue has gone on so long and that we have had to go to such drastic measures to circumvent the problem and resolve it in our own way. Maybe someone can make it a priority to fix or get around the inhibiting problem of the unit list not populating.
If you don't understand what is being described here for a fix, then please find a web developer in your stake and have them help you given the info above. The tool we used was FireBug.
I am sharing all of this because I know how devastating it is to direct people to the wrong person for building scheduling right during the time that the new year is being mapped out.
Good luck,
-Trevor
