Doing some digging, I'm getting a clearer picture of what's happening.
The Grand River stake split from the West Stake about a month ago, taking with them the two wards that meet in that building.
Looking more closely at the posted event and comparing it to the calendars in my stake, here's what I get:
Event name: "Tongan Ward Activity"
Calendar name: "Grand River Valley, Tongan Ward (Trenton)"
Unit hosting the calendar: "Far West Missouri Stake"
The question is, is "Grand River Valley, Tongan Ward (Trenton)" a system generated location calendar, or did someone create a unit calendar of that name? If it's a unit calendar, there's no expectation it would move, or that someone who moved to another stake would (still) have rights to edit it. The information that creates a location calendar comes from a database that FM manages. I wouldn't think it would be directly linked to the stake, but to the two wards that meet there. I'd think the change in "parentage" of the two wards would be enough to move things, but I could be wrong.
What's strange to me is that new events you create are shown as "owned by" your old stake. Assuming your records are in the new stake, the old stake would have had to add you in as a out-of-unit member and giving you rights to the calendar. While not impossible, that sounds more like a bug of some kind. And if you can create events in your old stake, why can't you edit the old events as well.
To be clear about building scheduler rights, having the stake put you into the position of "Stake Scheduler -- Building 1" only makes your calling visible to others. You won't have any rights until a stake admin goes into the calendar webpage, Gear icon > Building Schedulers and adds you by name. There's nothing in the system that links "Building 1" to a specific location.
Following Stake split I am unable to edit events for my building

The operative word here is "community". I'm just a regular Stake Technology Specialist that happens to have administrative rights to this forum. The "administrator" part means I'm an admin of this board. I have control over how the different forum sections are layered and help the moderators deal with the spammers and inappropriate questions. Kind of a combination of janitor and bouncer rather than anything great and powerful.SingerGuy wrote: Fri May 16, 2025 12:09 am Russellhltn is a community administrator, not a regular end user.
I do have the names of some of the product managers, but I'm reluctant to forward anything until I get a clear understanding of what's wrong. Quite often, things are working as designed, just not the way people expect or want them to work. I'm sure in your job with ICS you ran into the same issue - the design not matching expectation. I did forward the issue last night as it was clear something wasn't working right as your statements kept pointing to contrary possibilities.
By far, the biggest issue with the calendar system is that it doesn't support the old system of all building scheduling going though one person, but rather the building scheduler is more of a supervisor as the units schedule themselves. That change to tradition was very quiet and buried in the Calendar documentation. You can read more about that in the Help Center Building Schedulers. It sounds like that's part of the issue here, but I wasn't going to beat on drum that until I had a clear understanding of the problem and could explain why things worked the way they did.

Re: Following Stake split I am unable to edit events for my building
Here's the Answer:
"It looks like the problem may be that the FM group hasn’t correctly updated which stake the buildings are assigned to. When I proxy as the stake clerk of the Grand River Missouri stake, I see seven buildings and the agent stake for all of them is the Far West Missouri stake.
"The event shown in the thread is directly on a location calendar and that calendar is owned by the Far West stake because that location has the Far West stake as its agent stake.
"The new Grand River Missouri stake also can’t add any building schedulers (in the calendar system) because it is not the agent stake for any building.
"The new events show as owned by his old stake because he is still a building scheduler for the “Grand River Valley, Tongan Ward (Trenton)” building, even though he is no longer in the Far West stake. We do not remove building schedulers automatically when a person moves stakes. A Far West stake leader can remove him.
"I don’t know why edits he tries to make to events are not working. That would need some more investigation. However, we should probably automatically remove building schedulers when they move stakes and that will take care of the problem. Building schedulers are supposed to be members of the building’s agent stake. When you go to add a building scheduler, you can only add members from the agent stake."
As for how long from FM update to calendar update,
"It varies because for a given user, the facilities data is only checked at most once every 8 days. So, the time is determined by who opens the Calendar and how often. At most it’s 8 days, but it’s more likely to be a couple of days or less."
So, bottom line:

So, bottom line:
- Lean on your FM group to update their database. (I'd start with the stake Physical Faculties Rep).
- Wait for it to sync.
- Have a stake calendar administrator go into the calendar webpage, Gear icon > Building Schedulers, select the building, and add you by name.
