All:

If you are having popping issues with your audio-technica pulpit mic (black, not brown), and the mic element is about 1" or so in diameter, the Church discontinued installation of that model a few years ago due to the popping issue you are all noticing.

You have a couple of options:
  • Order an AT8159 windscreen from audio-technica. It will fit over your existing mic element and help with the plosive popping issue.
  • If this doesn't fix the problem to your satisfaction, ask your FM manager to replace that mic with the newer AT model, which has a larger screen element (closer to the size of a golf ball). The new mic performs better in that regard.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't need one for the new AT mics, but if you are confident it will improve things, go for it.
