Projector recommendations?

#1

Post by candlands »

The projector at our ward meetinghouse is due for a replacement - it's about 20 years old, standard def, doesn't support HDMI and a lot of the pixels are dead.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a new one? Optimally this is what would be perfect, but it doesn't have to have all these features:
  • Bright enough to display from the podium to the wall behind without having to turn every light off in the chapel or gymnasium. (current device is 4,000 lumens)
Doesn't have Netflix or other apps.
Allows Bluetooth or Wifi streaming from devices
    Small, portable
    Auto keystone
    Auto focus
    4K or at least 1080p
Doesn't break the meetinghouse budget - maybe in the $400-$800 range.
Any projectors that meet most of this criteria that anyone would recommend? Any ones you've gotten that you're happy with? Any we should avoid?

Talk to FM. They'll provide a projector and it won't hit the ward budget.

I agree with Russell - for all that is good and holy do not spend ward and stake funds on things that the FM provides! - I know it's hard to figure out sometimes, but a good rule of thumb is to think - FIRST - Log a ticket to the FM group! - If you don't like that answer, get with the High Councilor that is over Facilities and ask them to add it to the budget for next year, or ensure it gets replaced as a tech refresh item.

Also, if the thing is broken, specifically say what is broken, if it doesn't work, tell them why not...and use specifics... just logging a ticket that says 'replace the projector' isn't going to get as good an answer for replacing as - cord has a short in it. No longer has sound to output to the podium, Broken X can't do X now... stuff like that. also be prepared, it might not be 'new' but 'new to you' as often the FM office has some sitting in inventory they would use if say, a ward or stake was discontinued, etc...
