Language Audio
With the newest update (5.3.2 on Aug 24) the language audio for trying to listen to a passage of scripture is horrible. Instead of being an actual speaker of that language reading the passage, it is now a robotic English voice that obviously doesn't pronounce words how they are meant to be read. How can I go back to the old version of the app to fix this?

Re: Language Audio
It sounds you have text-to-speed (TTS) enabled instead of the human recordings. That happens automatically when you're not connected to the Internet if you don't have the scriptures downloaded. It also happens if the settings are set to do that.
Open the Gospel Library. Go to the scriptures. Click the headphones in the circle in the lower right corner. Click the three stacked dots in the upper right corner of the thing that appears. Click audio settings. Click where it says Main Voice. Select any option besides Text-to-Speech. Then, as long as you're connected to the Internet, or else have the audio scriptures downloaded, you should hear the human voices.
Alternatively, if you have a third-party media player, perhaps you can listen to (stream) the scriptures with the M3U playlist files I attached in the following post (this also requires an Internet connection):

I am having the same issue. We listen to scriptures in the car frequently, however we are rarely connected to Wi-Fi while driving. The text to speech has greatly reduced our scripture listening in the car because the text to speech is so distracting. The app used to play scriptures, seamlessly, using cellular data to download the chapters using a human voice. I would prefer to go back to this option. How can I reset this?

I know this doesn't answer your question, but If you have enough storage space, I recommend downloading the audio scriptures before you use them in the car, if you can.kabbott12 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:57 am I am having the same issue. I agree with everything posted thus far. I tried following the suggested steps, to no avail. In my opinion only real live readings should be available and AI should be removed all together to allow for a more spiritual experience. AI does not pronounce words and names correctly, plus it is too monotone.

I personally like the option to use TTS. I find it useful for when there's no Internet and I don't have the audio downloaded.xies wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 6:30 pm I agree with everything posted thus far. I was having the same issue. I may have a fix for you to try. Try turning off your wifi so that you will be directed to text-to-speech. Open the scriptures you want to listen to. Click the headphones in the lower right-hand corner. There should be a little 'i' circle icon above the player that says 'text to speech'. Click on the 'i' and follow the prompts to go to your settings. Then un-check the option that says 'limit cellular use'. Then it should use the recorded voices for you. 90% sure haha.kabbott12 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:57 am I am having the same issue. Alternatively, you can go to Settings in Gospel Library. Then make sure that "Limit Cellular Data Use" is unchecked.

Re: Language Audio
I fail to see the humor on an issue that is very serious for many members including, myself. Some thing occurred in the past "6 months?" where the clear concise male and female voices that were once associated with the Gospel Library changed to either AI Speech or something else, both of which are unacceptable. My first thought was the AI text to speech was not correctly trained according to the pronunciation guide in the Book of Mormon until I had the AI text to speech read the same pronunciation guide. The text to speech AI did ok until it got to the word Abel where it pronounced it "abull" as the guide spells out the pronunciation, not 'abell', or able.angelacox wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 9:36 amI was having the same issue. Is the guide wrong?
Is the AI wrong?
There is another word, (one of many mind you), Melchizedek, that the AI butchers horribly even with the correct pronunciation text.
I have 3 different device choices for AI, Apple iPad, Android/Google/Samsung phone and tablet. All 3 have the same results following the different suggestions listed above switching between the different AI choices and the Gospel Library's default text to voice settings.
The most important question I have is: How do we get this fixed?
I have sent feedback to the Gospel Library app help section and to Google.
