My birthday information is locked
My birthday information is locked in the directory, and I didn't do it. I went into the directory here, but I can't find a way to edit or unlock it. How do I go about it?

I don't think that's changeable. The icon is there to remind leaders that they need to be very careful about sharing that information.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

The visibility setting for an adult member's birth day and month is a recent change. Note this does not include birth date. The birth date is still only visible to stake and ward presidencies. I had not noticed this recent change until this topic thread. Currently the the visibility setting can be changed in the mobile app Member Tools and in the member's Church Account profile. As a ward clerk I am now presented with a message that requires me to confirm "The member has requested these changes and I have reviewed the visibility acknowledgement statement with them" before I can proceed. I have yet to be able to find this visibility acknowledgement statement. Well, the "visibility statement popup" has been around since at least the end of March, when this thread was posted: Visibility Acknowledgement Statement. I poked around a bit back then and posted a response in that thread, and it seems we're still lacking any actual statement we can review with the members. I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to be published...

I understand that only certain people holding certain callings are able to see birthdates, but the orange lock only shows up on my birthday and not my husbands. I have had other members check their profiles and the I orange lock notice doesn't appear on theirs

Birthday (not date) visibility can be set in https://account.churchofjesuschrist.org/visibility
