I am a ward membership clerk in a student ward, and I've been trying to resolve a peculiar membership audit exception.
It is related to our bishop's record, and the exception simply says " The calling for the Bishop position needs to be changed."
No other details given. The only three things I could possibly think of are:
a.) it has something to do with our bishop being an out-of-unit member
b.) there is some kind of notification timer for student wards where a new bishop is expected to be called every 2 years or 1.5 years or something
c.) it is simply a bug, not to be worried about.
Any explanations or help would be greatly appreciated,
have a blessed day!

Re: Weird membership audit exception
Try as I might, I can't find anything in the Handbook about Student wards. A singles ward has to have an out-of-unit bishop. But I'm not sure if that's true for a married student ward.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Re: Weird membership audit exception
If you're in a married student ward (not a YSA ward), it might have to do with russellhltn's thought – maybe the system is encouraging calling a member of the ward to the position instead of an out-of-unit member.
Another possibility is that maybe there's something in the bishop's home ward that needs to be resolved – for example, if he accidentally let his temple recommend expire.
You could try calling the Global Services Department to see if they have more visibility into what might be causing it.
