Currently, it looks like if you download all the individual MP3 talks, it comes to about 29.2GB.

April 2024 alone is 100.7MB (if you do whole sessions, it's 136MB).

April 1971 alone is 296.6MB.

what if all of those files can be converted into OGG format with compression?
I used that instead of MP3 because first - its GNU or Apache license that doesn't requires royalty in opposite to Mp3 format that is a private and requires a certain amount of royalty after specific amount?
As well as it can take less space on a Disk massive

Here's the updated General Conference talk MP3 URL list, which includes the latest General Conference and the older ones:

Don't forget that you can download them all in one go with wget by doing `wget -i "General Conference talks.m3u"`, but if you've already downloaded the previous MP3 files, don't download them all all over again; use the following file instead (which only has the latest conference):

As a side note, I wanted to point out that I think it's actually more spiritually uplifting to listen to a whole session at a time, than random talks, but it's nice to be able to listen to random talks, still.

MP3 is an open format, and its patent expired about seven years ago (23 Apr 2017). So, you don't have to worry about that anymore!

I think when the patent was in force you only had to pay royalties if you were making software that used the encoder codec (which wasn't necessary to play MP3s; you use the decoder for that; the encoder could be used for converting other formats to MP3 and stuff like that). But yeah, I like free-software codecs, like OGG Vorbis, FLAC, and SPEEX (and Theora for video, which I think can be in an ogm file, or maybe it was ogv, which I think is the same as an OGG container).
