Seeking LDS-friendly Forums, Chat Rooms, Social Media, etc.
Hi Folks,
I'm afraid that my daughter is developing some rather worldly attitudes and
opinions on a few social topic, and suspect that this is largely influenced by "internet friends" she has met. I'm looking for alternate forums, chat rooms, etc. that I can encourage her to visit. Not necessarily LDS per se (although that is great too), but at least one which support more conservative and traditional christian view and values. Her interests are mostly in the area of creative expressions -- writing, plays, music, acting, performing arts, etc. She is actually, imo a fairly good writer, but is currently lacking focus and follow-through (has written chapter one of about 10 different best sellers so far
She is currently 17 years of age, but is open & relates well to many different age groups. She is intelligent and a great debater. If you want to leave a personal email, that's great, but please also provide your ward any your bishop's contact information so I can verify that you are an active church member with good values and conduct.
Thanks for your help.

You can find many of them! I found some even in Italian so I don't think it will be difficult to find it in English.

One of my favorite sites to follow is the Latter Day Saints sub-reddit on Reddit.com. They post some great stories from around the web and youtube videos that are inspirational. However, other parts of Reddit may be a little too much.
Anyways check it out: reddit.com/r/latterdaysaints

The church has pages on most of the leading social media web sites to encourage participation and sharing the gospel where the people are... Rather than finding alternative social networks and forums, I would suggest talking with her about some of the sites and people she is connected with, and discourage her from connecting with people she doesn't know in person – you mention that the problem may be "internet friends" that she's met.

I have the same challenge as this . Where can a active member go to socialise online eg in chatrooms not just for dating ? When you are housebound the only resource is online and it is very difficult to find your niche . Any suggestions especially when LDS Chat is inaccessible .

Funny you should ask. Despite the title of this particular topic, it is not a chat room. Neither is it intended for socialization. Primarily, the forum is for using technology in the church as well as support for certain callings.abyotea wrote:Hello, I am new for this site. What does it serve please?

Since the church of Jesus Christ of latter days saints is still suspended, I was wondering if you could still give messages study via chat session?
