Re: Family Search Indexing on Yosemite
Thanks Jessica Sprague, the link you provided worked on my system and cleared up my issue. I haven't checked to make sure my other programs still work but for now, the indexing app is working again! Thanks for that reply.

Re: Family Search Indexing on Yosemite
If anyone wants to run the indexing app on Yosemite with Java 7/8 and not install Java 6, I was able to do it. I already had the Indexing app installed prior to upgrading to Yosemite, so I haven't tried to run the Installer, but in theory, you could. If you already have it installed and want to run it, here is what I did.
Open Terminal app
In the Terminal, you need to change directories to where the Indexing app is:
Now run it:
Now it should launch! Good Luck!
Open Terminal app
In the Terminal, you need to change directories to where the Indexing app is:
Code: Select all
cd /Applications/FamilySearchIndexing/indexing.familysearch.org/bin/
Code: Select all
java -Dlauncher.application.dir=/Applications/FamilySearchIndexing/indexing.familysearch.org/ -Dinstall4j.launcherId=20 -Dinstall4j.swt=false -classpath launcher.jar:commons-io-1.4.jar org.familysearch.indexing.launcher.Launcher

Re: Family Search Indexing on Yosemite
Thanks to these great instructions, I was able to make a quick little app using Platypus. You can download the app from my DropBox:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/599 ... MacOSX.zip
Directions for use:
(1) Download the app
(2) Unzip the archive
(3) Place the "FamilySearchIndexing" folder in the "Applications" folder (/Applications)
(4) Place the "FamilySearchIndexing" app wherever you want
(5) Double-click on the app icon to start the app

Don't forget to install both the Java RunTime (JRE) and Java Development Kit (JDK)!

Re: Family Search Indexing on Yosemite
Anyone find a fix for indexing with Yosemite? Mine won't install indexing software just like others on this thread so long ago.
