I have a couple of questions about copyright and/or trademarked material.
1) Are there any church related materials we can use in our mobile and web applications that won't violate copyright or trademarks? i.e. Photos, drawings, graphics, etc.
2) How do we go about getting official permission to use any church related material in our apps?
Copyright or free use material for mobile apps

Re: Copyright or free use material for mobile apps
I can answer the last question. The best place to start with this would be to contact the Intellectual Property Office at:
Phone: 801-240-3959 or 1-800-453-3860, ext. 2-3959
Fax: 801-240-1187
E-Mail: cor-intellectualproperty@ldschurch.org.
or by writing to:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Intellectual Property Office
50 E. North Temple

Phone: 801-240-3959 or 1-800-453-3860, ext. 2-3959

Re: Copyright or free use material for mobile apps
Thanks for that information.
They sent me to this link:
http://lds.org/legal/terms?lang=eng
which has a link to the official form:
http://www.lds.org/bc/content/ldsorg/co ... equest.pdf
Which you can then either mail or email back to them. So I've done that.
Wish I could figure out more about number 1 since on the form you have to make specific requests for the specific property. It'd be nice if there was some sort of gallery we could get permission to use for our apps. For me the content is one of the hardest parts.

For anyone going through the process, keep in mind that it may take 6–8 weeks for the copyright office to get back to you – so plan ahead.
